Who you'll work with
In this role you will work closely with the other members of the Actuarial Services team. You will have ample opportunity to learn both business and technical actuarial skills and the opportunity to manage co-op students to support the delivery of exceptional service to our members. Working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders across Member Services you will use your technical actuarial skills to improve the business.
What you'll do
Development and maintenance of actuarial applications/algorithms used to calculate member entitlements
Automation of existing and new reports / algorithms as needed to improve efficiencies, assist in data analysis, actuarial calculations and testing
Support developers / testers in coding / testing to ensure actuarial concepts in broadly used desktop applications are correctly implemented
Conduct research, perform actuarial analysis, and report findings on special cases, risk mitigation projects, plan demographic experience, and corporate/divisional projects
Preparation and/or review of actuarial and tax-related instructional materials and updates, in laymen’s terms, for distribution to internal clients
Provide support to other departments with actuarial and tax-related changes to systems, processes and procedures, and reciprocal transfer calculations and rules
Conduct analysis on the impact of potential funding changes / plan amendments to member benefit entitlements
What you'll need
Completing, or completed degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, or Business with strong math content
Completion of Exam P, FM and STAM
Completion of, or enrolled in LTAM exam
Strong knowledge of Visual Basic and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn programming languages, and other software quickly
Strong analytical, data manipulation and problem solving skills and ability to distill insights and assess opportunities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
