Overview
We are seeking a skilled Utility Service Technician to join our team. This role involves maintaining and repairing utility systems, ensuring safety and efficiency across operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, with experience operating heavy equipment and power tools. Primary Responsibilities
- Install cabinetry to the company’s standard installer level.
- Complete remedial tasks, including:
- Installing back-ordered items
- Installing parts from requests
- Finishing incomplete installation work
- Perform cabinet adjustments, scribing, and fitting.
- Install and adjust kicks, handles, fillers, and gables.
- Safely remove and reinstall cabinetry components as required.
- Build jigs for unique installation conditions.
- Perform basic cosmetic touch-ups.
- Creatively resolve functional or cosmetic issues.
- Record installed units following company procedures.
- Ensure all units are clean, tidy, and free of debris.
- Collaborate effectively with other trades on site.
- Arrive punctually and prepared for scheduled homeowner appointments.
- Assist with cabinet deliveries to job sites when needed.
- Read and interpret drawings and installation packages accurately.
- Maintain positive relationships with site superintendents, owners, and other trades.
- Ensure adequate stock of required tools and consumables.
- Uphold quality standards as defined in project contracts.
Tools & Technical Skills
- Proficient with:
- Impact drill, ½” drill, table saw, mitre saw, jigsaw, circular saw, multi-tool, planer, and router/trimmer.
Technology & Communication
- Use company platforms (e.g., SmartSheet) and client platforms (e.g., Procore).
- Communicate clearly and professionally with all team members.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to BCM quality and safety standards.
- Maintain COR-compatible safety practices.
- Follow work-alone and safe driving policies.
- Maintain company vehicles according to internal procedures.
- Track mileage and expenses accurately.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and exceptional communication skills.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Experience
· Minimum two years of multi-unit cabinetry and millwork installation experience
· Proven ability to track work in a meticulous fashion
Skills & Competencies
- Working with hand tools
- Working with full suite of MS Office and Smartsheets
- Excellent in communication, teamwork, problem‑solving
Compliance & Training Requirements
- BC Driver’s License if required for position
- Passport (if applicable)
- WHMIS
- Anti‑Violence / Respectful Workplace
- Valid Work Permit (if applicable)
- English language skills appropriate to the role
- Adherence to WorkSafeBC requirements, including recover‑at‑work practices
- Adherence to internal manuals and standard operating procedures
- Steel-toed footwear
Term: 3 month contract, with the possibility of extension. 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday
Hourly range: $28 - $35
Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
