Previous experience is required for certain specialized positions. However, no previous experience is required for some entry-level ground person and labourer opportunities.Training may be provided to individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine interest in learning the arboriculture trade.About the positionOur teams perform tree trimming, tree removal and vegetation management work near utility infrastructure.This is an active outdoor position that requires team members to work safely, productively and professionally in various weather conditions and on different types of terrain.Successful applicants will work alongside experienced team members and learn to use specialized arboriculture techniques, tools and equipment.Key responsibilitiesResponsibilities will vary depending on the position and may include:
- Trim, prune and remove trees or branches that may interfere with utility infrastructure.
- Perform directional felling and controlled tree removal.
- Work near electrical lines and other utility infrastructure while following all applicable safety procedures.
- Inspect work sites before operations begin.
- Identify potential hazards and help establish a safe work zone.
- Operate chainsaws, pole saws, brush chippers, aerial lifts and other specialized equipment.
- Perform climbing work using approved techniques and equipment.
- Handle ropes, branches and rigging equipment during tree trimming and removal operations.
- Remove brush, clean work areas and feed branches into a chipper.
- Drive commercial vehicles when required by the position.
- Complete daily inspections of vehicles, tools and equipment.
- Report unsafe conditions, defects or damaged equipment.
- Assist with basic preventive maintenance.
- Install signs or traffic-control equipment when required.
- Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, clients and members of the public.
- Complete required work records and documentation.
- Follow company safety procedures, client requirements and environmental standards.
- Assist with emergency or storm-response operations when required.
- Perform other related duties needed to support daily operations.

Experience and qualificationsRequirements may vary by position.Arborist, Utility Arborist and Climber positions
- Previous experience in arboriculture, tree trimming, tree removal or vegetation management is a strong asset.
- Previous experience working near electrical or utility infrastructure is an asset.
- Recognized arboriculture training or certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of climbing, rope work, pruning and tree-removal techniques.
- Ability to safely operate a chainsaw and other arboriculture equipment.
Aerial Lift or Bucket Operator positions
- Previous aerial-lift or bucket-operation experience is an asset.
- Ability to work safely at heights.
- Knowledge of pre-operation inspections and safe equipment operation.
AZ or DZ Driver positions
- Valid Ontario AZ or DZ driver’s licence, or an equivalent licence that can be recognized or transferred.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles, bucket trucks, chippers or trailers is an asset.
- Ability to complete required vehicle inspections before and after use.
Ground Person and Arboriculture Labourer positions
- No previous experience is required for individuals with a strong attitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience in forestry, landscaping, construction, physical labour or the use of power tools is an asset.
- A valid driver’s licence is an asset.
- Ability to support crew members during tree trimming and removal operations.
- Ability to safely handle branches, ropes, tools and equipment.
- Ability to clean work areas and feed branches into a chipper in accordance with safety procedures.
Valid First Aid and CPR certification is an asset. Additional training may be required or provided depending on the position.
