Position Summary
Tahli Mental Health Services is seeking a motivated and professional Summer Student to support community outreach and administrative activities for a four-week term. The successful candidate will primarily engage in outreach to healthcare providers and community organizations in the vicinity of St. Clair Ave. West while also assisting with clinic administrative and promotional activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit healthcare providers, community organizations, pharmacies, wellness clinics, legal offices, and other potential referral sources within the local community to introduce the clinic’s services, using only clinic-approved talking points and materials.
- Distribute pre-approved clinic information and promotional materials in a professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and contacts.
- Assist with organizing outreach materials and clinic resources.
- Provide administrative support, including data entry, document organization, and general office tasks (no access to client clinical or health records).
- Assist with marketing and social media activities under supervision, using only clinic-approved content.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a college or university program.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional, dependable, and organized.
- Comfortable interacting with members of the public and healthcare professionals.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Education or interest in psychology, healthcare, social sciences, public health, or a related field is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- This is an in-person position based near St. Clair Ave. West, Toronto.
- Community outreach will be conducted primarily on foot within the surrounding neighbourhood.
- Where approved outreach activities require travel beyond walking distance, reasonable local public transit expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the clinic’s reimbursement policy.
- The role also includes office-based administrative duties.
- Weekly hours will range from approximately 10–15 hours, depending on operational needs.
Compensation
- $21.00 per hour, inclusive of 4% vacation pay as required under the Employment Standards Act.
- Four-week temporary employment.
Confidentiality & Privacy
- This role requires signing a confidentiality agreement prior to starting.
- The student will not have access to client clinical records, health information, or protected health data at any point during the placement, in accordance with PHIPA.
- All outreach and marketing materials distributed or posted must be pre-approved by clinic leadership; the student is not authorized to create or represent independent claims about clinic services.
