Summary:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team at I.V.I Adult Services as a Developmental Support Worker. As a support worker, you will be responsible for providing care and support to adults with Complex Special Needs. You will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by promoting their independence, facilitating their personal growth, and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct support and care to adults with Complex Special Needs in a respectful and person-centered manner.
2. Assist clients with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and household chores.
3. Implement individualized care plans developed by the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that clients' specific needs and goals are met.
4. Promote a safe and supportive environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards, reporting concerns, and implementing appropriate strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
5. Facilitate community participation and social integration by organizing and accompanying clients to recreational activities, educational programs, and community events.
6. Foster positive relationships with clients and their families, promoting open communication and collaboration to ensure the best outcomes for the individuals we serve.
7. Document client progress, incidents, and any relevant information accurately and timely in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
8. Collaborate with other members of the team, including therapists, psychologists, and case managers, to develop and implement holistic care plans that address clients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
9. Attend regular trainings and professional development sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of behavioral developmental disabilities.
10. Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical standards, including maintaining client confidentiality and upholding professional boundaries.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Child and Youth Worker certificate or Equivalent
- Developmental Services Worker Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with adults with Complex Special Needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with clients, families, and other professionals.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to transport clients when necessary.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of vulnerable background checks and drug screening.
Working Conditions:
The I.V.I Adult Services Support Worker will primarily work in a community and residential setting, providing services to clients with Complex Special Needs. The role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The position may involve physically demanding tasks and exposure to challenging behaviors.
