Chestnut Building Solutions is looking for an experienced commercial carpenter who can take ownership of their work and help keep jobs moving.
We’re a locally owned commercial general contractor that has been operating in Fredericton since 1994. Our projects are primarily commercial renovations and fit-ups in Fredericton and the surrounding area. We have steady work, a solid team and a strong backlog of upcoming projects.
This is a hands-on position. You’ll spend most of your time working alongside our crew, but we’re looking for someone who can also look ahead, solve problems, coordinate day-to-day work and help set the standard for quality on site.
What you’ll be doing:
- Commercial framing, backing and general carpentry
- Installing doors, frames, hardware, cabinetry and finishes
- Installing suspended ceilings and completing interior fit-up work
- Reading drawings and planning upcoming work
- Helping organize materials, tools and daily site activities
- Coordinating with project managers and subcontractors when required
- Keeping work areas safe, organized and presentable
- Helping guide less-experienced members of the crew
What we’re looking for:
- Strong commercial carpentry or interior construction experience
- Ability to read drawings and work with limited supervision
- Pride in workmanship and attention to detail
- A dependable, level-headed approach to getting work done
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Red Seal certification is an asset, but equivalent experience will be considered
- Comfortable using a phone for basic project communication; Procore experience is helpful, but we’ll provide training
What you can expect from us:
- $30–$40 per hour, based on experience and ability
- Full-time, permanent employment
- Steady, year-round commercial work
- Most work located in Fredericton and the surrounding area
- Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with a half-day Friday
