Forge Recruitment is partnering with a highly respected, full-service law firm in downtown Toronto on a confidential search for a Litigation Legal Assistant to join its Municipal and Planning Law group. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional seeking to support sophisticated litigation matters within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
About the Role
Prepare, draft, revise, and format a range of litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, applications, affidavits, facta, correspondence, and presentations.
Assist lawyers with trial and hearing preparation, including the organization of records, briefs, exhibits, and supporting materials.
Coordinate the service and filing of court and tribunal documents, working with process servers and filing agents as required.
Manage calendars and monitor court appearances, deadlines, limitation periods, and conditional timelines to ensure procedural requirements are met.
Open, maintain, organize, and close electronic files in accordance with firm procedures and document management protocols.
Assist with monthly billing, including reviewing time entries and entering dockets into the firm's accounting system.
Manage internal and external communications, including client inquiries, correspondence, and telephone calls, with professionalism and discretion.
Coordinate meetings, appointments, travel arrangements, and other administrative requirements to support the legal team.

What You Bring
3+ years of litigation legal assistant experience within a law firm environment
Experience supporting municipal or planning law matters is considered an asset
Legal Assistant Diploma and/or Law Clerk certification preferred
Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, legal terminology, and applicable statutes
Working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and Ontario litigation processes
Familiarity with Ontario courts and tribunal filing procedures, including CaseLines and the Ontario Land Tribunal, is an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and legal technology platforms
Experience with document management systems, PDF software, and litigation document preparation tools
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach
Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information
Proactive, adaptable, and willing to learn new systems and processes
Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
