Avalon Hospice is building Newfoundland and Labrador’s first community-based hospice for the Avalon region — a compassionate, holistic, and dignified model of end-of-life care grounded in our mission and bylaws. As we move from vision to implementation, we are seeking a Co-Chair to help lead this transformative initiative.

What You’ll Do
As Co-Chair, you will work closely with the Board Chair to:
- Provide strategic leadership and governance oversight
- Support operational planning and organizational development
- Guide financial stewardship and risk management
- Contribute to policy, legal, and regulatory compliance
- Engage with community, government, and health-sector partners
- Help build a strong, effective Board aligned with our mission
This is a volunteer position requiring approximately 5 hours per week, with a mix of in-person and virtual participation.
Who We’re Looking For
You are an experienced leader with:
- Background in operations, finance, legal, or governance
- Familiarity with the health or medical sector in Newfoundland and Labrador
- Ability to work collaboratively within a developing Board structure
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Residency in St. John’s or the Avalon region
- Commitment to the mission and values of Avalon Hospice
Prior Board experience is an asset.
