Job Overview
HomeShare is a new form of residential support for persons with disabilities in Nova Scotia. YACRO is seeking suitable candidates to serve as HomeShare providers. You can be a HomeShare provider in two ways:
1) By sharing your home with an adult with a disability who requires supports to live in the community.
2) By moving into the home of the individual who requires supports.
As a HomeShare provider, you will share a living space and provide supports to an adult with a disability. This could involve helping them with meals, scheduling, managing their health needs, and helping them with the many different activities of daily living.
All candidates undergo an extensive interview process which includes several visits to their home. They also must be able to provide an acceptable criminal record check and good references as well as have the ability to obtain a first aid/CPR certificate.
If you are approved as a provider, YACRO will work to match you with an appropriate person to live with. You will have the opportunity to meet and connect with the person prior to committing to the arrangement. For the move to proceed, both of you must agree that it is a good match. The funding that you will receive is dependent on the level of support required by the person you live with.
