Position Title: Program Coordinator
Location: Chestermere, Alberta
Employment Type: Contract Consultant Position / Estimate 80 hours per month

Chestermere Women's Crisis Society (CWCS) is a community-based not for profit society dedicated to supporting vulnerable women and families in crisis. Our mission is to provide domestic violence and essential needs support inclusive of advocacy to those affected by domestic violence, family instability, and related challenges. The Opportunity:
Reporting to the CWCS Board of Directors and directly to the President of CWCS, the Program Coordinator plays an integral role towards guiding CWCS’s growth strategy as it adapts to meet its vision and goals.
This coordinator position involves a combination of administrative, training and direct client support. The Coordinator will be responsible for actively engaging in CWCS events, program delivery and other related community work. Specifically, this includes, but is not limited to:
- Lead and monitor service delivery in the CWCS crisis/help line.
- Maintain a working knowledge of CWCS’s programs (service delivery model).
- Respond to client needs as per CWCS policy guidelines.
- Engage the Board of Directors in program development, service delivery and service improvement.
- Working in collaboration with the Board of Directors for the full range of crisis line support and scheduling.
- Support in the orientation of new volunteers.
- Conduct client intakes as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Development
Referring to the existing needs assessments/research completed by CWCS, the Program Coordinator will identify potential programs that will be focused towards addressing current social challenges within the local Chestermere community ensuring Programs are aligned to CWCS’s mission/vision and values.
The Program Coordinator in collaboration with the CWCS Board of Directors, will develop Program Plans that identify; but are not limited to, the following requirements:
- need(s) the program(s) will serve;
- resourcing (staffing) plan(s) to launch program(s);
- schedule (timelines) to execute program(s);
- budget inputs;
- educational training to support program(s);
- communication strategies targeted at promoting program(s).
Client Services
The Program Coordinator will support the CWCS Board of Directors in managing daily operations when required, including the CWCS Client Intake Process, Client Outreach and Crisis Line support.
Operational Oversight
- Community Outreach – collaborating with Community Engagement volunteers assisting CWCS in amplifying its message and inspiring action through donations, fundraising support, and volunteerism. This includes, but is not limited to, partnerships with community members, local businesses, elected bodies and community groups. Actively engage in community events, workshops, and forums to promote CWCS.
- Events and Fundraising – collaborating on event coordination and fundraising through support and execution
- Reporting and Evaluation – supporting the Board with operational reporting and execution for growth and development
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of related experience, including: board development, operations of non-profit recreation or social service organizations, program development, risk management, community development processes and strategic planning.
- Previous experience in creating presentation materials and facilitating and presenting to large groups.
- The ability to work well in a team environment demonstrating excellent interpersonal, advocacy and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong decision-making and conflict management skills, sound judgment and strong resourcing, research, and analysis abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with issues related to domestic violence and crisis intervention.
- Proficiency with Office 365 products including client database management.
- Experience in budgeting/forecasting specific to the non-profit sector.
- Certification in non-for profit and/or social investment alongside expertise in grant/proposal writing is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for community events.
Working Conditions:
This is a part time (contract) position with a Work from Home Environment. Occasion travel is required to the CWCS’s head office located in Chestermere, emergency accommodation and storage unit. As this is a contract consultant position, the successful candidate will be paid based on the terms of the contract. The consultant is not an employee of CWCS.

Effective immediately (or as negotiated) and ending December 31, 2025. The contract may be extended if future funding is secured.

Pay: $24.00-$25.00 per hour
