Position Summary
The Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for fostering an inclusive, safe and positive culture while supervising a team of players. As a counsellor you will be assigned to a group and responsible for the group for the day. As a float you will be responsible for helping cover breaks and help out where needed in regards to player supervision. Age groups range from age 10 to 19. This position is responsible for player safety all day. This position is NOT an on ice position.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support campers during daily activities
- Provide minor first aid when required.
- Facilitate extracurricular activities.
- Additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Supervision
- Reports to: Coordinator, Residence (or Director, Residence when the Coordinator is unavailable).
- Provides supervision to: Campers/players.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience working or volunteering with kids, preferably in a camp setting.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Physical fitness to keep pace with young athletes.
- Critical thinking skills in various situations.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
