Speech Language Pathologist (Pediatric)

The Kitimat Community Development Centre (CDC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our interdisciplinary team supporting children and youth from birth to 19 years of age. This is an opportunity to work in a rewarding community-based setting where your expertise will directly contribute to helping children reach their full potential.
About the Role
As an Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide assessment, intervention, consultation, and ongoing support using family-centred, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practices. Working alongside a dedicated team of professionals, you will help children and youth develop the skills they need to participate successfully in everyday life.
Services are delivered in a variety of settings, including our clinic, homes, schools, and community environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech & language assessments for children and youth (ages 0–19).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support participation, independence, and development.
- Provide therapy services in clinic, home, school, and community settings.
- Coach and support families with practical strategies to enhance daily routines and participation.
- Collaborate with caregivers, educators, healthcare providers, and community partners.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case planning and program development.
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and outcome measurement.
- Uphold professional standards and evidence-based, inclusive, trauma-informed practices.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university.
- Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with infants, children, and youth in community, school, health, or rehabilitation settings.
- Strong knowledge of child development, sensory processing, and family-centred practice.
- Experience working within interdisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of culturally safe and trauma-informed approaches to service delivery.
