STRABAG is actively seeking a Senior Advisor, Communications & Community Engagement for our Canadian division, where they can utilize their extensive knowledge to contribute to the continued success and growth of the organization. The Advisor, Communications will be responsible for developing, monitoring, supporting the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies that enhance the organization’s public profile, ensure consistent messaging.
The successful candidate will be working at the Head Office located in Mississauga.
Job Summary
The Senior Advisor, Communications and Community Engagement is responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans to support the organization’s goals. This role will lead efforts to engage with key stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and internal teams, ensuring effective, clear, and consistent communication across multiple channels. The Senior Advisor will play a key role in enhancing the organization's public image, fostering positive relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring that community concerns and input are integrated into decision-making processes.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication and community engagement strategies to support project goals and organizational priorities.
- Lead the planning and execution of public consultation initiatives, ensuring meaningful community involvement in project developments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders and clients.
- Draft, review, and approve content for newsletters, social media, website updates, and other communication materials.
- Monitor public sentiment and media coverage, providing analysis and recommendations to address emerging issues and maintain positive public relations.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure that communications and engagement strategies are aligned with project timelines and objectives.
- Advise senior leadership on communication and public engagement matters, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
- Coordinate and lead public meetings, open houses, workshops, and other engagement events, ensuring accessibility and clear communication for all participants.
- Manage and resolve community concerns or complaints related to the organization’s activities or projects, working with internal teams to find appropriate solutions.
- Support the development of reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders, highlighting engagement outcomes and communication efforts.
- Stay informed of best practices and trends in communications and public engagement, recommending innovative approaches where appropriate.

Qualifications
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or community engagement, preferably in a government, public infrastructure, or corporate setting.
- Proven experience developing and implementing communication and stakeholder engagement strategies for complex projects.
- Strong writing, editing, and public speaking skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience working with diverse communities, managing public consultation processes, and addressing stakeholder concerns.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across teams.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, and communication software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with crisis communication and media relations.
- Knowledge of regulatory processes and community impact considerations for infrastructure projects is an asset.
