Overview:
Kellermeier Contracting Ltd is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Carpenter Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in completing an apprenticeship in Carpentry. As a Carpenter Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced carpenters and gain hands-on experience in various aspects of carpentry. Projects range from forming foundations , framing, interior finishing, and renovations, for both residential and commercial projects in Kamloops, and outside of Kamloops City Limits.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures
- Use hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and assemble materials
- Perform concrete forming, siding installation, and other related tasks
- Shovelling, raking, and compacting sub-grades
- Erecting walls and trusses
- Follow blueprints, sketches, or building plans to ensure accuracy
- Assist with measuring and cutting materials to specified dimensions
- Job site cleanups, which also include loading, unloading, and sorting/ organizing material
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
Job Specifications/ Skills:
- A minimum of 2 years experience in Carpentry, Home building, Renovations, or equivalent, OR a minimum of 1 year of schooling completed in the carpentry trade
- Basic understanding of math, for measuring using a tape measure
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to work in heights up to 30ft with proper PPE & safety equipment
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Must be able to take directions from supervisors to perform various job tasks
- Tool operation: Safely operate hand tools and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work independently, or as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
Requirements:
- High school graduate, or equivalent
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Reliable vehicle to get to and from work locations (Work locations are not always near transit stops)
- Experience in carpentry, and/or in the home building industry (minimum 2 years), OR minimum completed 1 year schooling in carpentry trade
- Basic hand tools and workwear for your first day of employment
- Safety boots (CSA Approved)
