Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. As Engineer-In-Training (EIT), Electrical with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced group of Engineers. The role will provide assistance in the execution of facility integrity assignments, including asset inspections, facility maintenance and repair projects, and the execution of assessments for facility assets.
This position will be based in Calgary, office based, and will report to the Engineer Technical Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in identification, development and initiation of sustaining capital projects, including preparation of project specifications, initial cost estimates, and schedules.
- Provide project management services including managing third party engineering firms, drawings review, permitting, job hazard analysis, cost and schedule tracking, monthly forecast, construction liaison, commissioning, and start-up support.
- Assist with the development of standards, procedures, and other controlled documents, for the continuous improvement of the capital projects management program.
- Provide electrical engineering technical support to operations and other interested stakeholders such as other project managers.
- Support Capital Projects Program (CPP) compliance efforts by preparing and attending field inspections, responding to information requests, addressing technical deviation requests, and implementing corrective actions or preventive actions (CAPAs) that may result from such inspections.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- 1 - 2 years of experience.
- Registration with Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA) or Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) is required.
- Knowledge of or training certificate in the latest Canadian Electrical Code Part I CSA C22.1 is required.
- Registration with the Project Management Institute (PMI) will be considered an asset.
- Pipeline engineering and operational experience preferred.
- Proven ability in electrical engineering a must.
- Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to navigate and facilitate difficult conversations.
Other Requirements and Information
- Valid Canadian driver’s license.
- 25% travel to various site locations in Alberta and British Columbia will be required.
- This is office based position in Calgary.
