Job Title: The Carpenter's Shop Campus Manager (opening mid-summer)
Scope of Position: Souls Harbour Rescue Mission is a vibrant, young, fast-growing Christian charity with an entrepreneurial spirit and a company culture driven by our core values of evangelism, discipleship, charity (love and good deeds) and expansion. One of the principal ways we accomplish our mission is through our recovery programs, our shelters and our drop in centres where we provide food, clothing, shelter and transformational recovery programs. The Carpenter's Shop in Yarmouth operates a live in long term Christian program that is designed to assist men in regaining their active place in society by ministering to the whole man; physically, mentally, spiritually and socially. This location also includes a small carpentry social enterprise where residents are taught carpentry skills and produce items to be sold at markets. As the campus manager, you set the tone for the house - offering discipleship, mentorship and encouragement while maintaining discipline and order.

Location of Position: The Carpenter's Shop, 11 McConnell Crescent, Yarmoth
Reports to: Director of Residential Services
Authority: Charge & oversight of the residential program
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- Must be willing to work according to the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission statement:
Souls Harbour Rescue Mission exists to rescue people from poverty, addiction, and despair by offering emergency help, such as food, clothing, and shelter, life changing recovery programs, and the Gospel Message.
- Must be willing to agree with the Souls Harbour doctrinal statement (as per staff manual)
- Must be bondable - criminal record check required
- Adhere to all certification and legal directives
- Have basic first aid training & food safety
- Must have valid driver’s license
- As this role involves leadership of a recovery program, it is required to refrain from the use of alcohol, illicit drugs, and non-medical use of mood-altering substances, as well as maintaining a non-smoking and non-vaping lifestyle
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
- Missionary Heart - ability to share faith and testimony
- Prior managerial experience an asset
- Ability to handle crisis situations
- Ability to enforce the rules without losing your patience
- Excellent communication skills
- Patient and good listening skills in order to give Biblical counsel on an informal basis
- Bible College training an asset
Expected Results:
Objectives: To carry out the mission, values, and vision of The Carpenter's Shop through leadership of the day to day ministry and representation in the local community. Mission and values are set by the board of directors. Vision is set by the CEO and then implemented at the local level.
Specific Duties:
- Oversee The Carpenter's Shop Recovery Program in accordance to our policies & procedures.
- Oversee staff and volunteers.
- Chaplaincy duties including scheduling devos, peer counselling, teaching classes and chapel times. Spiritual programming is under the advisement of the Chief Spiritual Officer.
- Lead weekly house meeting
- Resident recruitment. Inasmuch as possible, maintain a full house. When needed, maintain wait list and follow up regularly with men on the wait list.
- Oversee rent collection and reporting
- Charge and oversight over resident individual programs
- Maintain liaison and advocacy work between SHRM and social agencies where it relates to the program residents - social assistance programs, jails, physicians, etc.
- Submit purchase orders for items needed within department
- Give tours of facilities to donors and volunteers
- Establish connections within the community - meet with other community groups, coordinate donations from local businesses, speak at various churches & organizations when requested, etc.
- Participate in fundraising events as required
- Attend weekly Manager meetings
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and events
- Ensure grounds are being maintained
- Manage onsite support staff, contractors and volunteers
- Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the Mission
As this is a new ministry for Souls Harbour, employee agility is expected. You can expect regular reviews of the job description and appropriate changes to the role, additional staffing and possible restructuring as we learn together.
Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
