OVERVIEW
The Unit Clerk II position acts as part of a multi-disciplinary team, facilitating patient flow throughout the clinic visit in Ambulatory Surgical Services including PAC, PCU and OPD(GSC). As a Unit Clerk II, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks.
EDUCATION
- Grade 12 or equivalent required.
- At least one year post-secondary training in administrative support which includes courses of medical terminology or medical transcription is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 years of recent and relevant experience (within the last two years) in a fast paced medical and/or surgical clinic environment required.
- Position may require rotation to other ambulatory clinics such as surgery/medicine ambulatory clinics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Back Awareness training.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a fast paced multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required with all member of the public and MGH Community.
- Proficient in the use of Powerchart, ANSOS, ESM, SAP/SRM, Word and Excel preferred.
- Must abide by all MGH policies and procedures; as well as demonstrate the core values of MGH.
- Excellent organizational skills required.
- Demonstrated experience in the coordination of patient bookings/appointments is preferred.
- Meet and exceed where possible, predefined departmental standards.
- Professional telephone etiquette is mandatory.
- Demonstrated innovation in problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Good work and attendance record required.
- Must be willing to work in all areas of the medicine and or surgical health service as required (skills & abilities considered).
