Gerry Crepin Cartage is a family-owned Ottawa-based company operating aggregate, recycling, transportation, and landscape supply facilities supporting residential, commercial, and institutional projects across the city.
Our Albion Road Depot serves as both a recycling facility and landscape supply depot, providing products and services to contractors, homeowners, and commercial customers throughout the Ottawa area.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused individual to become the primary point of contact for customers, truck drivers, contractors, and suppliers entering our depot.
This position is responsible for depot operations, customer service, sales support, and administrative duties while helping ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the aggregate, recycling, and landscape supply facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers, truck drivers, contractors, and suppliers
- Manage driver check-in and check-out procedures
- Operate the site office and accurately record inbound and outbound material quantities
- Generate manual load tickets, invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation
- Handle cash, debit, and credit card transactions
- Process aggregate, recycling, disposal, and landscape supply transactions
- Maintain daily product movement logs and transaction records
- Assist customers with product inquiries and provide recommendations on aggregate, soil, mulch, stone, and landscape products
- Coordinate customer pickups and communicate with dispatch, yard staff, equipment operators, and management
- Answer phone calls, emails, and customer inquiries
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment requirements to management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional site office and work area
- Support management with administrative, yard, and operational tasks as required
- Adhere to all company health and safety procedures
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in customer service, sales, administration, dispatch, scale operations, or a related role
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience handling cash, debit, and credit card transactions
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Legible penmanship
- Ability to learn aggregate, recycling, and landscape supply products
- Experience with truck scales is an asset
- Experience in the aggregate, recycling, transportation, construction, or landscape supply industries is an asset
- Strong communication skills and a desire to learn
