DUTIES

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), and supporting the Associate Dean, Educational Development, the Manager of Operations, Office of Professional and Educational Development (OPED) oversees the daily operations of the Office of Professional and Educational Development. Working with the COO, and in collaboration with the Associate Dean the Manager of Operations supports the strategic planning process including the development and implementation of the strategic plan, monitoring and updating the plan to ensure alignment with the Faculty of Medicine and Memorial University, as well as standards set out by the Committee on the Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME). Duties include: building and fostering relationships within the Faculty of Medicine, external organizations including the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association, the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information, and other organizations on both a provincial and national level with overlapping mandates; overseeing financial and human resource processes, monitoring revenue generation, funding allocations, hiring practices, productivity, and sustainability; identifying new opportunities for revenue generating partnerships that align with the strategic priorities of the OPED; drafting agreements/contacts for services and working with the COO and General Counsel for approval; responding to Conflicts of Interest (COI) and Requests for Proposals (RTP); ensuring programs are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations; liaising directly with clients regarding the terms of the contracts; overseeing change management and communication to staff regarding new policies, procedures and processes; creating business processes and policies, and liaising with the Policy Analyst for approvals; leading a team of professionals dedicated to educational and research-focused programming using traditional and digital learning delivery methods by ensuring they have the resources needed to successfully deliver programs, and other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (5 - 7 years) in a management capacity in an academic environment and/or the public sector; completion of a Master’s degree in Business Administration or Adult/Post-Secondary Education or related discipline; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Strong skills in strategic financial management, including administrative, organizational, leadership, conflict resolution, analytical and problem solving are required, as are excellent written, verbal and interpersonal, and strong computer skills. Familiarity with Memorial University policies and procedures, as well as familiarity with the Faculty of Medicine and accreditation processes will be considered assets.

SALARY $65,960 - $85,501 per annum (Management and Professional)
