Our Toronto office is looking for a Payroll Administrator to join the Payroll team on a 12 month contract and own the following responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day payroll function, ensuring that the semi-monthly payroll is prepared and processed, all payroll tickets are processed, and accounting procedures are completed and that audit requirements are met.
Calculate and process new hire/terminated employee information, and process Record of Employments (ROEs) as required
Remain up to date with any legislative changes affecting the payroll function
Assist with other payroll accounting functions, including monthly/quarterly/annual reconciliation of payroll accounts and annual regulatory filing on a timely basis
Prepare semi-monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees through Workday Payroll Software and AssistMe (ServiceNow) ticketing system
Provide clear and timely communication to all employees regarding payroll policies and procedures, updates, deadlines, and special requests etc.
Assist with mid-year and year-end T4/ R1 reconciliation
Assist with the preparation of WCB, CRA, MRQ, EHT, MHET remittances
Perform all required calculations for terminations ( vacation payouts, claw backs)
Input data into Workday for processing, review retro calculations for accuracy
Ad-hoc duties or assignments as required

Your experience and education
You are a University/College graduate in a related field
If you have your PCP certificate it would be considered an asset
You have a minimum 1 year of experience working as a payroll administrator in a medium sized company, with multiple locations or other provinces/territories in Canada
You have thorough knowledge of Canadian (federal, provincial, municipal) employment and payroll related legislation in particular Employment Standards
You have strong communication skills – written and spoken, listening skills
You have worked in a fast paced and high volume enviornment
You have advanced Microsoft Excel skills
You have an understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures
If you have WorkDay experience/knowledge, it would be considered a strong asset
