Established in 1954, Berry and Smith Trucking Ltd. is a family owned and operated transportation company providing class leading transportation services to our customers throughout North America. We are a third-generation family owned and operated business with a strong company culture and deep routes in our community. We are seeking a full time organized and professional Dispatcher out of our head office in Delta, BC.
This position will be accountable for ensuring that the needs of Berry and Smith, its customers and drivers are being met.
Responsibilities:
-Supporting dispatch division to meet operational goals.
-Oversee and manage accurate order entry.
-Act as primary contact for customers, updating on status changes and proactively addressing issues, delays or changes.
-Schedule deliveries and pickups in coordination with dispatch, driver and customer requirements.
-Liaise with third party contractors, ensuring timely pickup and delivery of shipments.
-Ongoing training of drivers with changing procedural standards.
-Finding loads for Berry and Smith Trucks and assisting in customer relations.
-Assisting drivers with routing directions, problem solving delivery or pickup issues and communicating service requirements to drivers.
-Monitor road conditions, construction zones and incidents that may cause drivers to re-route.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:
-Previous experience in trucking industry preferred.
-Previous experience with port and rail transportation.
-Composure under pressure and ability to make quick, logical decisions.
-Strong organizational skills: time management, project planning and multi-tasking capability.
-A team player with ability to effectively communicate with personnel, co-workers and customers in a professional manner.
-Excellent computer skills.
-Flexibility to work hours as required and dictated by the job and availability to be on call for after-hours telephone calls.
-Ability to travel on a limited basis for meetings with customers and working with other offices.
-Satisfactory results from a criminal record search.
-Preparedness to work on a six-month probation period.
-Good physical and mental health.
-Compliance with Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.
Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
