Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Building Superintendent to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our facilities. This vital role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably. The Building Superintendent will lead maintenance teams, manage facility projects, and uphold safety regulations to create a secure and well-functioning environment. Duties
- Ensuring timely completion of repairs and preventative maintenance tasks
- Oversee the operation and repair of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems (including high voltage and low voltage), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Conduct engineering troubleshooting to diagnose issues with mechanical or electrical equipment using schematics, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools
- Manage maintenance schedules using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to optimize equipment uptime and reduce downtime
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by implementing safety protocols, conducting inspections, and training staff on safety procedures
- Lead facility improvement projects from planning through execution while managing budgets and timelines
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and system upgrades for accountability and regulatory compliance
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems repair, HVAC system repair, plumbing system maintenance, electrical systems (including high voltage and low voltage), and industrial maintenance practices
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and engineering troubleshooting techniques
- Familiarity with CMMS software for maintenance management and record keeping
- Excellent understanding of safety regulations related to facilities management and industrial environments
- Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in system repair and troubleshooting
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills
- Leadership qualities that motivate teams towards high performance while maintaining a safe work environment
- Effective communication skills in English and French for clear documentation and team coordination
- Use of diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters for electrical troubleshooting
