As a member of the grocery retail team, your role will include setting and maintaining attractive grocery displays and assure that all objectives and goals of the department and store, as communicated by the Market Manager, and leadership team, are met or exceeded. You will ensure a positive company image by providing legendary customer service.
Availability Requirements: Opening (starting at 7am) or Closing shifts (ending at 9pm)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist and support the Grocery Team Lead with all departmental functions.
- Ensure appealing displays by checking codes, rotating products, and removing out-of-date products.
- Maintain correct department signage and pricing.
- Ensure that all shelves and displays are properly stocked and front-facing.
- Maintain back stock in good order.
- Provide exceptional customer service when addressing questions about the location of items
- Assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing.
- Keep grocery department clean, sweep floors and maintain sanitization logs.
- Operate and sanitize all grocery equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Answer department telephone calls and pages quickly and with excellent phone etiquette.
- Able to select substitute products for customers if needed
- Assist with Stockperson duties when required (bagging groceries and walk-outs)
- Assist online grocery ordering department by fulfilling orders, shopping products cross-departmentally
- Follow and comply with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adhere to safe work practices.
Qualifications:
- Previous grocery or stock replenishment experience preferred
- Must be physically able to continually lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to visually examine products for quality, freshness (expiration dates)
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures
- Works well within a team and individually
Working Conditions:
- Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
- Some exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
- May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
- Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
- Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.
- May need to use a ladder or stool to reach product or supplies.
- Repetitive stretching and lifting required.
- Lifting of items up to 40 pounds (over 40 requires a team lift)
- WHMIS and Food Safety Certification required (Sunterra will provide courses)
