At the Real Food Kitchen, a team of cooks, kitchen helpers, packers, and Super Drivers help to prepare, pack, and deliver nutritious and delicious meals to feed thousands of kids in the GTA. As a member of the production team, you’ll help support the production staff, and ensure that their tasks are performed effectively and to the highest possible health and safety standards. The Pack Team Member jumps in where they are needed to make sure our food gets to the kids every day
Main responsibilities include ensuring appropriate items and quantities are packed according to the pack sheet. Special meals are included, client requests are abided by and food is packed in a manner to ensure a quality product is delivered every time.
- Efficiently, and accurately gather food items and pack them into bins
- Fulfill orders according to pack sheets accurately within the required time frame
- Ensure that FIFO guidelines are followed when fulfilling orders
- Complete all necessary paperwork
- Organize bins on pallets, secure with skid wrap, and operate a pallet jack to store pallets in designated locations.
- Assist with packing fruit, and pre-kitting special meals.
- Ensure items being packed meet our quality standards, and bring issues to the attention of the production manager.
- Support all production related tasks
- Assist with seasonal picnic production
- Assist with inventory
- Assist bakery department with packaging baked goods.
- Assist sanitation department with dishes
- Assist the cook department with portioning, weighing, and counting food items.
- Carefully follow health and safety rules
- Other duties as required
- High School
- Positive attitude, with a passion to get things done right!
- Understanding of food safety
- Ability to work on your feet for an 8-hour shift
- Ability to repetitively lift a minimum of 25 kg (50lbs)
- Ability to work in cold environments (-10 to 4 degrees Celsius)
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Basic math skills, including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Natural alignment with RFRK Food values and mission
- Experience working in a busy kitchen or production facility
- Experience with forklifts and pump trucks
- First Aid Training
- Food Handler’s Certificate
