The Health Information Management Professional is responsible for ensuring accurate coding and abstracting of all patient charts (DAD and NACRS) while maintaining confidentiality of personal health information. In addition, Release of Information duties may be assigned and will include responding to all requests for patient information.

Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program required
Current certification with CHIMA required
1 year experience within the last 3 years or recent graduate (within 12 months) that has completed a min. of 1 month of coding experience.
Proficient ICD-10-CA and CCI coding skills
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of CMGs, RIWs, Case Complexity and CACS
Demonstrated knowledge and abilities related to computerized abstracting, systems (e.g. Cactus or Med 2020)
Demonstrated knowledge of current privacy legislation
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to comprehend multi-task computer software (e.g. Meditech)
Accurate data entry skills
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and use good judgement, as well as ability to work collaboratively as a team member
Demonstrated ability to maintain a good attendance record and meet the performance standards of the Health Centre
