Position Overview
Boyd Construction is seeking a motivated and reliable Construction Labourer / Apprentice Carpenter to join our team. This position is ideal for someone looking to start a rewarding career in the construction trades and gain hands-on experience in residential renovations.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced carpenters and tradespeople, assisting with a variety of construction tasks while developing the skills required to become a qualified carpenter. Boyd Construction is committed to investing in motivated individuals and will offer apprenticeship opportunities after three months of successful employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist carpenters and lead tradespeople with residential renovation projects.
- Perform general labour duties including demolition, material handling, site preparation, and cleanup.
- Load, unload, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with framing, drywall, finishing, trim installation, and other carpentry-related tasks.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site.
- Follow company safety procedures and participate in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Learn and apply residential construction techniques and best practices.
- Support project timelines by completing assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
Qualifications Required
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction trades.
- Experience using basic hand and power tools.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, climbing, and working on your feet for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable vehicle and ability to travel to various job sites.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred
- Previous construction or labour experience.
- First Aid Certification.
