The Recreation Assistant will play an important role in the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating of recreational and leisure activities within the home, and in the community to meet the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual needs of our residents.
Key Responsibilities (not limited to)
-Actively and effectively organizes programs through planning, communicating, decorating, transporting, cleaning, documenting, modifying and evaluating.
-Actively and effectively facilitates 1 on 1, small group and large group activities.
-Actively participates in the implementation of the Monthly Activity Calendar.
-Completes assessments, and establishes goals, interventions and Careplans based on the resident's identified needs according to the RAI-MDS system.\-Completes documentation including, but not limited to, program attendance, and progress notes.
-Participates in and completes all mandatory training.
-Participates in the continued development of departmental procedures.
-Maintains a safe environment and performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications (not limited to)
-Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Activation, Recreation and Leisure, Therapeutic Recreation, Geriatrics or other related field.
-Previous experience working with people with disabilities in a care setting.
-Previous experience in program planning and facilitating.
-Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
-Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
-Food Handlers Certificate and Smart Serve an asset.
-Experience with Point Click Care and MS Office an asset.
-Ability to stand for long periods, and help with set up of tables and other equipment.
-Ability to work with volunteers.
-Ability to work flexible hours including Days, Evenings and Weekends a must.
Pay rate - $19.46/hour
Hours - 75 bi-weekly
