Staff Plus is hiring an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for a high-speed food manufacturing and packaging facility.
This position is responsible for preventative maintenance activities, changeovers, volume conversions, break-down troubleshooting and improvement projects in a high paced flexible packaging environment.
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm
Rate of Pay : $37.08/hr
What You'll Do:
- Understand and adhere to all safety procedures, utilizing appropriate safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Perform all work in accordance with health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failure or breakdowns
- Repair and perform maintenance on high speed packaging equipment, dismantling and assembling mechanical and electrical equipment, repair and replacement of defective parts as required
- Maintain, repair and reassemble production equipment: including but not limited to pumps, pasteurizers, valves, pipes, etc.
- Understand and perform maintenance activities on all support equipment: boiler, air-compressors, condensers, vacuum pumps, water meters, etc.
- Communicate with various parties on the work performed during shift changeovers
- Perform preventative maintenance following standards and schedules as outlined in the PM program. This includes lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, etc.
- Control downtime by managing and performing routine preventive maintenance and operation techniques
- Participate in maintenance improvement projects as required
Qualifications:
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of 2 years Mechanical/Electrical Technology Diploma/Certificate.
- Either a red seal trade qualification (Millwright/Electrician) or partly through the apprenticeship program will also be considered.
- 2 - 3 years of maintenance specific experience within the food industry.
- Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electro-mechanical equipment that is utilized in the food processing and packaging industry
- Experience in mechanical set up and the ability to read basic electrical schematics is required
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working in a diverse and multicultural atmosphere.
- Ability to effectively communicate (both written & verbal).
- Ability to work in a multi-skilled, rotating shift environment.
- Demonstrated regard for personnel and product safety.
