The Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto, a mid-town private multi-racquet, fitness, wellness, dining and social club, with a strong foundation in excellence, located near transportation with a dynamic and vibrant stakeholder culture, is recruiting for a part-time Pro Shop Representative with great energy and enthusiasm to be part of our team.
Hours of Work: 5–20 per week
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year’s retail and reception experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent clerical and organizational skills
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in all situations
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of equipment, racquet stringing and basic understanding of racquet sports rules
- CPR & First-Aid Certificate an asset
- POS knowledge (Northstar an asset)
- Coaching experience in a racquet sport an asset
- Racquet stringing experience an asset
- Background check required due to working with vulnerable persons
Duties:
Sales:
- Performs inventory control duties.
- Sells and promotes products.
- Promotes events, activities and services.
Customer Service Duties:
- Provides friendly, personal and attentive customer service. Ensures acknowledgment of every person who enters the facility.
- Answers telephones and dealing with emergencies and member inquiries in a professional, accurate and timely manner.
- Books courts and sports and member services activities, events and services.
- Assists with game arranging.
- Provides information on the Club, sports department and rules and regulations.
- Reports issues, complaints, hazards and customer requests to management.
- Strings racquets and updates member file with preferences.
- Updates procedures and information manuals, including information on current events/activities.
- Ensures the flow of communication within the department and other departments is consistent and timely.
- Ensures mail drop off procedures are followed; reviews accumulated mail and coordinates delivery of incoming mail.
- Covers reception desk during breaks and performs tasks such as answering telephones and dealing with emergencies and member inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Emergency Procedures:
- Contacts emergency services and coordinates staff efforts in dealing with an emergency.
- Completes accident and incident reports.
Security:
- Keeps a watchful eye on all persons entering and exiting the Pro Shop and building when at the front desk.
- Reports any unauthorized/suspicious individuals to management.
- Reports to management any persons attempting to leave the premises in an intoxicated state, consistent with Smart Serve guidelines when working at the front desk.
- Views and ensures recording of security cameras when working at the front desk.
- Informs ADT of circumstances if the fire alarm is activated when working at the front desk.
Knowledge/Enforcement of:
- Acts as the information centre regarding all operations, general events, activities, rules, regulations, polices and emergency procedures.
- Reports all infractions to the Club’s professionals or management.
- Follows up on no shows and court infractions.
Inventory Control:
- Monitors and replenishes stock levels, advises when ordering is required and/or assists with purchasing inventory.
- Receives and signs for inventory and checks against packing slips and attaches pricing labels.
- Maintains inventory skus.
Clerical/Admin Duties:
- Updates member information.
- Records guest information.
- Organizes tournaments.
- Assists sports professionals with member lists, promotions, etc.
- Completes daily log.
Other:
- Performs daily cleaning and organizes Pro Shop and inventory as per Club standards.
- Maintains service standards at all times.
- Fulfils other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or manager.
- Abides by club policies, dress code, procedures, practices and all relevant legislation including health and safety and violence in the workplace.
