Job Overview
The Tourism Intern will report directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for coordinating the Tourism Program activities for the CGC Group of Companies including Cowichan Green Community Society (CGCS), Cowichan Green Community Foundation (CGCF), and Cowichan Green Community Holdings (CGCH). This position will be a full-time contract position for the duration of the Co-op position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Tourism and Promotional Activities
- Connect with Tourism organizations to determine additional promotional opportunities
- Expand current tourism-related activities for agricultural and food initiatives
- Research other tourism-related initiatives for possible implementation
- Assist with all promotional materials including ads, posters, articles, media releases etc
- Assist with Social Media content creation and posting
- Assist coordinating events
Island Farm and Garden Magazine
- Write content for articles related to tourism
- Assist coordinating content including articles and advertisements
- Assist with magazine deliveries
Other Duties:
- Assist with tourism-related grant and funding applications
- Perform other duties as required by the Director of Operations/Executive Director.
- Answer phones, checking messages and assisting with office tasks as needed.
- Assist other programs as needed.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Currently registered at a post-secondary institution doing either a co-op program or an internship (they can be from any program for example, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, Computer Science and/or Digital marketing).
- Be a domestic student; permanent resident/ Canadian citizen. This would be important as international students are not eligible.
- Minimum two years office experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with the public.
- Ability to multitask and work independently.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Slack, CANVA, and WordPress.
- Two or more years’ experience at a community non-profit organization an asset.
- A valid Driver’s Licence, clean abstract, and reliable vehicle, an asset.

Working Conditions::
- Work in a busy open concept office and store environment.
- Monday to Friday occasional weekends as required.
- Maximum 35 hours per week.
