Database Services Department at Scotiabank is looking for an Advisory Database Administrator to design, test, and implement Oracle, Cassandra, Mongo, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases on various initiatives. This group provides database administration for over 30 applications that provide investments, products, sales and services for Retail and Commercial banking in Canada and International. This role will report to Senior Manager of Database Administration leading this department.
Is this role right for you?
Provide on-site database and system support
Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues
Make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance
Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching
Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure
Participate in projects and database design/test/implementation
Weekly rotation for 24x7 production support calls
Work in agile fashion, and join daily morning scrums
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
10+ years of experience as a DBA
Experience in AWR, ADDM, ASH, RMAN, SQLT, Golden Gate, Exadata
8+ years of hands on experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution
3+ years of hands on experience with Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or MySQL
8+ years of hands on experience with either JSON, Python, Linux/AIX Shell Scripts, SQL, PL/SQL 6) Proven ability to write excellent technical documentation
Jira, Confluence & ServiceNow
RAC, RMAN certifications/trainings
Banking experience (understand processes and terminology, importance of applications)
