Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented SMT Operations Lead to drive excellence in our surface-mount technology (SMT) manufacturing processes. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate all activities related to SMT assembly operations, including component placement and soldering processes
- Ensure adherence to manufacturing schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols across the production floor
- Keep assembly jobs moving efficiently through the shop by coordinating with each department, tracking progress, and planning the next steps to maintain production flow and meet deadlines.
- Troubleshoot issues with programmable logic controllers, electrical wiring, and mechanical components to minimize downtime
- Review schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings to facilitate accurate assembly and maintenance procedures
- Conduct routine inspections of machines
- Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to implement process improvements and optimize workflow efficiency
- Train and mentor team members on assembly techniques, use of tools, safety practices, and technical troubleshooting
Experience
- Proven experience in manufacturing environments with a focus on SMT or electronics assembly
- Strong electrical experience including working with electrical wiring, schematics, ect.
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery setup, calibration, and maintenance
- Hands-on proficiency with hand tools and machining equipment
- Familiarity with reading schematics and understanding electrical wiring diagrams for troubleshooting purposes
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting preferred
- Knowledge of industry standards for electronics assembly and quality assurance practices
