Alberta Lumber Supply is a fast-growing lumber and building materials distributor in Central Alberta, and we're hiring our Head Yard Operator to take full ownership of daily yard operations, deliveries, and equipment handling.
We're a startup — which means the person we hire into this role isn't just filling a seat. As we grow, this position has a real path to becoming a Yard Lead / Supervisor role, with the responsibility (and pay) to match. You'll be working directly with ownership, helping shape how the yard runs as the company scales.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day yard organization, cleanliness, and safety standards
- Deliver lumber and building materials to residential and commercial job sites
- Load, secure, transport, and unload materials safely
- Operate forklift for loading, unloading, and moving materials
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and accurate delivery paperwork
- Assist customers and suppliers with loading, as needed
- Perform general yard maintenance, including snow removal and seasonal upkeep
- Maintain professionalism in all customer interactions
Qualifications
- Valid Class 3 driver's license with Q endorsement required
- Current driver's abstract
- Forklift experience required; certification an asset
- Mechanical aptitude or experience is an asset
- Strong reliability and work ethic
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong communication skills
- Able to work independently and lead by example
