Position Summary: We are looking for a passionate Childcare professional who enjoys engaging with the community, building relationships, and guiding educators, all with pedagogical knowledge in the functions of Supervisor. In this capacity, stewarding partnerships and working collaboratively with peers and management play a vital role in the delivery of quality care. A key aspect of this role is a commitment to leadership and knowledge building focused on Indigenous perspectives and Seasonal Pedagogy.
Salary Range:$63,270.00 - $72,409.00 Annual
Overall Responsibilities:
- Managing daily operations, development, administration, and evaluation of the childcare centre.
- Complying with all legislative and regulatory requirements such as finances, policy and regulations, and Health and Safety.
- Coaching of educators to build and support their skills along with ongoing professional development and regular feedback including annual performance reviews.
- Engaging and managing a team with the support of a Senior Manager, peers, and program partners, holding regular team meetings to share information and gather feedback.
- Engaging with centre children and families through various channels such as in person, emails, and Story Park.
- Providing regular centre updates to Senior Manager. Ensuring a sound pedagogical curriculum, evident in all programming spaces, age-appropriate and reflective of the community we serve.
- Actively involved in the LEF community to support and enhance the needs of educators, families, and children.
- Acting as a role model for educators, children, and families, by reflecting LEF values and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree with work experience in all age groups.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Supervisory role.
- Experience working with children with varied abilities and communities with varied socio-economic and cultural demographics.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014), Toronto Operating Criteria, Early Learning Framework (ELF), How Does Learning Happen?, and Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI).
- Proven ability to implement an emergent curriculum.
- Ability to interpret and implement organizational policies and procedures, guidelines, and protocols of external governing bodies such as Public Health and Ministry of Education.
- Strong collaborative, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening skills.
- Ability to use tact, discretion, sound judgement, fair and effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work effectively.
- Passion for and working experience with guiding, mentoring and coaching others.
- Experience working independently, and able to contribute, and be an influential member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Working understanding and use of technology and software such as Microsoft suite including Teams, CRM, and Story Park.
- Must have up to date documentation required by the Ministry of Education and Public Health: membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators, current certifications (First Aid CPR Level C), immunizations and a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check.
- A valid driver's license with access to a vehicle is an asset.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
