The Senior Communications Specialist is integral to the success of the Office of the CEO team and to CAAT’s guiding mission and growth strategy.
Reporting to the Manager, CEO Communications, as the Senior Communications Specialist, CEO Communications, you will be responsible for engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to support the Office of the CEO’s communications priorities. This position requires superior writing, copyediting, and verbal skills to produce engaging and accurate communications that promote the value of modern DB pension plans, the strategic vision of the CEO and Plan Manager, and CAAT’s purpose to improve the retirement outcomes of Canadians. You will contribute to a broad range of communications, marketing, and policy initiatives as an informed, expert representative of the Office of the CEO.
We are looking for someone with:
- 5+ years of progressive strategic communications experience, preferably supporting senior leadership, including presentation development, speechwriting, thought leadership/long-form articles, senior stakeholder relationship management, and media relations.
- A strong understanding of executive communications fundamentals, including senior stakeholder relations, public relations, and strategic communications.
- Experience in executive communications and senior stakeholder relations.
- A certificate in public relations is an asset.
- Proven ability to coordinate and deliver on a dynamic calendar of communications priorities, event commitments, speaking engagements, and media activities with exceptional time management.

- A proven track record of effective communication and collaboration to ensure consistency, accuracy and quality of corporate messaging across diverse stakeholder groups.
- The ability to learn and collaborate in a poised and tactful manner on projects that may be confidential in nature.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
- Enthusiasm, resilience, and adaptability to unforeseen project changes.
- Exceptional attention to detail in written and verbal communications.
- Initiative and problem-solving skills as a self-starter.
- The ability to successfully manage conflicting urgent priorities and deadlines.
- The ability to build and nurture internal relationships as a representative of the Office of the CEO.
Once here you will:
- Prepare polished key communications tactics consistent with the voice of the CEO, including articles, presentations, key messages, media communiqués, social media copy, and other messaging for internal and external audiences.
- Serve as a point of contact for stakeholder relationships managed by the Office of the CEO and work with external partners to coordinate Office-led events.
- Work closely with various departments and external agencies as required to assist with planning stakeholder engagements and communication and marketing programs.
- Exercise judgment and discretion with material that is frequently confidential in nature to assess business requirements, reputational risks, and communication needs.
- Ensure alignment and consistency of all CEO communications with evolving business priorities, including presentations, speeches, longform articles, internal communications, and media relations.
- Support the framework development of communications processes, protocols and measurements with a data-driven approach.
- Support the development of website content, including copywriting, web design, and other deliverables as needed.
- Ensure team members are kept apprised of project deliverables and status, obtain input from subject-matter experts, and secure required approvals to deliver.
- Facilitate timely and efficient delivery of accurate information to internal and external stakeholders and provide recommendations on communication approach and content.
