The Disability Programs Consultant is responsible for the management of occupational and non-occupational absenteeism due to illness or injury. The job involves:

Developing and executing occupational and non-occupational disability management and return to work strategies and plans

Assisting managers in assigning suitable and safe work to injured/ill associates
-
Monitoring and assessing the return-to-work plan for progression based on established recovery and return to work goals, work accommodation, and minimizing operational disruption and leave costs

Developing and ongoing administration of the WSIB claim process including documentation, submission, reviewing and analyzing statements, handling of inquiries and follow-up of all WSIB incidents and reported claims, including appeals

Working closely with claimants, claim adjudicators, medical professionals, third party administrators and departments to monitor the claim process, develop objectives, and ensure cost containment

Communicating regularly with the Safety & Prevention Supervisor for the investigation of WSIB lost-time incidents and follow-up of prevention recommendations

Participating in regular meetings with departments and external service providers to review claim trends, costs, accommodations and identify opportunities to reduce number of claims, durations and costs

Adhering to compliance and workplace policies, internal control procedures, and AGCO directives

Flexibility to support a 24/7 operation
The ideal candidate has:
-
College Diploma or equivalent experience, CDMP designation an asset
-
Minimum three years combined work experience and educational related experience in Case and/or Claims Management and injury prevention

Extensive knowledge of Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Employment Standards Act
-
Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, organizational and time management skills
-
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
-
Exceptional mediation and conflict management skills
-
Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word), working knowledge of Parklane is an asset
-
Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive issues according to level of urgency
