ABOUT: Our school has opened a second Elementary campus, and the kitchen will be opened shortly. We are looking for a kitchen staff to prepare and serve catered food to our students. There will be no cooking on site, as the food is delivered by a caterer.
September 3, 2026 start date (no work during winter break, march break, PA days and more during school days off). Work continuing in the summer during our Summer Camp program.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Food Handling Certificate
- Prior kitchen and food service experience is required.
- Certified in Standard First Aid & CPR/AED (Level C)
- Have a clear police reference check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently,
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–40 lbs as needed.
- Enjoys working in a school environment and around children.
POSITION DETAILS - Kitchen Staff (PART-TIME, PERMANENT)
- Hours - Mon to Fri from 10:30am - 4:30pm per day (hours may change over time due to need)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Kitchen Duties
- Prepare and portion catered snacks and lunches for each classroom.
- Complete all kitchen cleaning duties and required daily checklists.
- Maintain accurate records, including food temperature logs and documentation required by licensing or health authorities.
- Follow all health, sanitation, and safety protocols, as well as school policies.
- Rinse dishes, operate and unload the dishwasher throughout the day.
- Manage laundry related to kitchen and school items; keep the laundry area clean and organized.
- Clean and disinfect counters, stoves, microwaves, sinks, and appliances daily.
- Monitor and respect children’s allergies, dietary restrictions, and food sensitivities; prepare alternative items as needed.
- Monitor food inventory levels and communicate supply needs (e.g., low stock of snacks, cleaning products, or paper goods).
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food and supply deliveries.
Other Support
- Assist students when needed (e.g., refilling water bottles, helping open containers).
- Help ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all students.
- Greet families and support staff members and students when required.
- Use walkie-talkies and communication software to stay connected with school staff.
- Maintain a calm, positive, and professional demeanor, especially in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to meet school needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
