Duties:
The Department of Physics, Engineering, and Astronomy at Vancouver Island University is seeking candidates for a part-time, temporary Instructor to teach ENGE250, The Department of Physics, Engineering, and Astronomy at Vancouver Island University is seeking candidates for a part-time, temporary Instructor to teach ENGE 250, the Linear Circuits course for students in their second year of Engineering studies with the intent to transfer to the University of Victoria to complete their degree.
Covered learning outcomes include:
- Using Ohm's Law and Kirchoff Laws to analyze resistive circuits
- Use network theorems to analyze resistive circuits
- Solving circuits involving inverting and non-inverting operational amplifiers
- Solving 1st and 2nd order RC and RL circuits
- Using phasors to perform AC analysis
- Assessing series and parallel resonance and calculate AC power
- Solving 3-phase circuits with Y- and Delta loads
The successful candidate must also be comfortable leading these topics in a laboratory setting.
Candidates to teach this course should be comfortable and competent with the full range of topics presented in the course. Instructional duties include preparation of notes, the preparation and marking of quizzes, midterm(s) and a final exam, supervising and marking laboratory assignments, and assigning final grades. Additionally, the instructor is expected to provide reasonable, on-campus office hours.

Required Qualifications:
M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an appropriately accredited institution and qualified to be registered as a Professional Engineer.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from an appropriately accredited institution; P.Eng. designation.
