Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduated from an approved MOA or Hospital Unit Clerk course. Medical Terminology. 1 year acute hospital experience. Demonstrated high functioning time management skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal and written means, in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills – knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care. Preferred Qualifications:
Emergency Department experience preferred. Proficiency in applications such as Connect Care, MUSE, Netcare, REPAC, iRequest, APPROACH, DCS and Siren.
