We are looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! Reporting to the Director of Care, this position includes rotating shifts in a long-term care home.
As a care partner, Willow Lodge is seeking a strong team leader. The RN actively participates in the nursing process to meet the specific needs of residents as individuals ensuring current gerontological practice. The RN practices within the scope of the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as defined by the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN).
Responsibilities:
- Carries out daily responsibilities following best practice standards and job performance requirements within the scope of practice of the NSCN.
- Immunizations and phlebotomy
- Participates in the implementation of organizational goals.
- Complete all documentation and charting on residents’ files, incident reports etc. as applicable, and access any required resident information in Point Click Care.
- Administer medications according to physician orders. Document appropriately in Point Click Care (PCC)
- Maintain confidentiality concerning residents, employees, organizational data and information.
- Cooperates with fellow employees and Management to promote a positive atmosphere for residents, their families, coworkers and visitors.
- Communicate and work with family members and other health care providers to develop a care plan when additional care is needed.
- Respond immediately to emergency situations involving residents, staff, or visitors
- Ability to provide leadership and direction to staff in day-to-day operations.
- Participate in the scheduled on-call rotation to provide support outside of regular business hours.
- Provide report at end of shift
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or recognized Registered Nursing degree.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the applicable province, in good standing.
- Strong communication skills (English)
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required; and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Experience in a geriatric setting is an asset
- Previous experience in Long Term Care an asset
Licence/Certification:
- Licensed with NSCN (required)
- Standard First Aid, CPR (required)
- Phlebotomy
- Immunizations
Currently hiring one permanent position (0.9 FTE) 72 hours bi-weekly
Pay: CA$45.50 - CA$47.80 per hour based on education and experience
Rotating shifts with shift night and weekend premiums.
