The Security Technician is responsible for ensuring the installation and maintenance of Security systems within residential services, are responded to and processed in a timely manner with a professional approach to customer satisfaction.
Installation (including pre-wiring, installing, configuring, programming, commissioning, testing and troubleshooting) and maintenance of security systems including CCTV (IP & Analog), card access systems, public address systems, intrusion panel and intercom system
Perform configuration and basic troubleshooting on LAN/WAN’S
Respond to all customer technical inquiries
Provide basic customer training for proper system usage
Ensure customer expectations, through inquiries and requests, are met and exceeded with a high-level of service
Communicate accurate details regarding the progress of installation and applicable charges, as well as any issues that may arise, to customers
Complete detailed and accurate paperwork
Provide accurate information on all job statuses; communicating any delays to management and dispatch
Follow all safety policies and initiatives and bring forth any recommendations; attend safety meetings as required
Other duties as assigned
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in security system installation or service technician
Experience within the Telecommunications an asset
Completion of high school education with preference to post-secondary education in security, electronic or information technology
Kantech, I3, TOA, AXIS certifications an asset
Experience with key scan or card access certifications would be an asset
Networking and IP working knowledge
Data and voice networks and telephony experience an asset
Analytically and mechanically inclined; strong technical skills
Must have a valid driver’s license; able to provide a Drivers’ Abstract
Customer focused both internally and externally; ability to handle both favorable and unfavorable customers; excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to work well under pressure with tight timelines and frequent demanding deadlines
Ability to self-start and stay on task with minimal supervision; identify problems and situations and implement solutions or escalate as required
Commit to continuous learning; ability to learn and apply learned skills and complete and pass all related exams
Must be willing and able to work various shifts as assigned (evenings, weekends & statutory holidays), based on business need
Ability to work independently in all weather conditions
