The Position: The QPTS Patient Transfer Professional is responsible for providing safe, timely, and professional transportation services to clients, including older adults, to and from essential medical appointments. You are the first point of contact for clients and must communicate effectively, treat clients, and staff with respect, and always maintain a positive and safe environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of clients to and from appointments, events, and other activities. Additionally, you will provide companion services that enhance the overall quality of life for clients. You will need to effectively interact with clients, their families, healthcare providers, and community organizations. You will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries while providing compassionate and person-centered care. This role requires empathy, patience, and understanding, and a commitment to promoting dignity and independence for all clients.
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive safely using defensive techniques while observing traffic laws.
- Represent the company with a community-focused, client-centered approach.
- Assist clients in preparing for medical appointments and personal outings, assist them with entering/exiting vehicles, navigate hospitals and check clients into clinics promptly, and ensure proper transfer of care to institutional staff before leaving a client.
- Maintain professionalism with clients, families, care teams, and institution staff at all times.
- Clean and sanitize vehicles during downtime between transfers, and do extra cleaning when required to ensure our vehicles are presentable and professional.
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections for safety and cleanliness, and report equipment and job-related issues to office staff.
- Review your daily schedule to make sure you can complete all transfers in a timely manner and with the proper equipment needed.
- Participate in ongoing training for all services and procedures, and inform management when you would like additional training in any area.
- Engage clients with therapeutic conversation and emotional support and provide companionship and entertainment during transfers when it is beneficial for the client
- Monitor clients' well-being and respond to emergencies promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate records of any incidents that occur with clients, families, or care teams during your transfers.
Job Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a thorough background check and pre-employment screening.
- Ability to lift and assist clients with mobility needs and operate various types of mobility aids and medical equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain a positive, patient, and empathetic demeanor at all times.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment and handle multiple tasks and priorities with flexibility and adaptability.
- Knowledge of defensive driving techniques, vehicle maintenance and safety, and emergency response protocols
- Ability to navigate the local road network, use GPS and other navigation tools, and read maps and directions.
- Familiarity with health transportation and assistive care, and a commitment to providing the highest quality of care and service to clients.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs individually, and up to 250lbs with a partner (stretcher)
- Ability to bend, reach, and kneel as needed.
- Ability to spend extended periods of time driving and sitting.
Working Conditions:
- Some weekend and evening work may be required.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to varying levels of traffic and road conditions.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
