We are seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team and support our dental professionals in providing high-quality oral healthcare services. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting during patient procedures, ensuring the smooth operation of the dental office, and delivering exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Welcome and prepare patients for dental treatments.
- Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately.
- Explain procedures and offer guidance on post-treatment care.
- Assist patients in feeling comfortable and address any concerns during treatments.
- Assisting with Procedures:
- Set up instruments, materials, and supplies in the operatory.
- Aid dentists during examinations, fillings, extractions, and other procedures.
- Pass instruments, provide suction, and maintain a clear working area.
- Instrument and Equipment Management:
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments following established protocols.
- Ensure all dental equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the work environment.
- Radiography:
- Take dental X-rays as directed by the dentist.
- Adhere to safety protocols during X-ray procedures.
- Administrative Duties:
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments efficiently.
- Manage patient records accurately and document treatments.
- Process insurance claims, handle billing, and facilitate payments.
- Patient Education:
- Provide oral hygiene instructions and post-treatment care advice to patients.
- Educate patients on preventive oral care practices.
Qualifications:
- Education & Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized dental assisting program.
- Certification in dental assisting preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Experience in dental assisting with knowledge of orthodontics and pediatrics.
- Familiarity with Dentrix software is advantageous.
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist is a plus.
- Knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health records system is desirable.
