Taber Health Centre Laboratory is located within the Taber Health Centre and services this Southern Alberta City as well as its surrounding areas. The location is staffed with a strong team of laboratory professionals that offer strong, patient-focused service to their community. Taber Alberta is located approx. 50 kilometers east of Lethbridge and 260 kilometers southeast of Calgary. As an MLT II, this opportunity allows you to mentor and supervise the day-to-day operation of department staff and services in their area. You will be responsible for the coordination, organization, and operation of the site Laboratory. You will be responsible for monitoring the collecting, analyzing, and reporting of biological specimen results. You have experience with laboratory procedures. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
The successful applicant must have a minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience. Proficiency in core laboratory theory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen procurement and handling, and transfusion medicine dispense. Proven competency in phlebotomy is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge with the Epic Laboratory Information System is considered an asset. Previous experience working in a rural healthcare setting is preferred. Preference given to candidates with leadership experience and/or completion of related training or professional development courses.
