Volunteer Praise & Worship Teacher - Kids, Teens & Adults
1–2 hours per week | Flexible scheduling | Free Community Praise & Worship Program
The Canadian Christian Recreational Association (CCRA) is seeking a Volunteer Praise & Worship Teacher to lead a FREE praise and worship program for children, teens, and adults.
This is an opportunity for a passionate worship leader, musician, singer, music teacher, or experienced worship team member who wants to help emerging and interested participants learn how to praise and worship, develop their musical abilities, and grow in confidence.
The program is designed to be welcoming and accessible to participants of all abilities and experience levels. Whether someone is completely new to praise and worship or already has some musical experience, we want to create an environment where everyone has an opportunity to learn, participate, and grow.
Flexible Commitment: Only 1–2 hours per week is required.
You do not need to be available for all of the times listed below. Volunteers only need to commit to one 1–2 hour block per week that works with their schedule.
Available program windows: Begins the week of Sept 28 and ends December 19thm 2026
- Flexible weekday evenings between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM
- Saturday mornings between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM
The times listed are open and flexible. The successful volunteer will work with CCRA to establish a consistent weekly session time.
About the Program:
The FREE Praise & Worship Program is designed for kids, teens, and adults who are interested in learning more about praise and worship and developing their musical and leadership abilities.
Participants may be beginners or have previous experience singing, playing an instrument, participating in church worship, or leading worship.
The program will focus on helping participants:
- Learn common praise and worship songs
- Develop confidence in singing and participating
- Understand basic music theory
- Improve pitch, rhythm, and timing
- Learn how to follow musical direction
- Understand the structure of worship songs
- Develop basic harmony and vocal skills
- Learn about worship leadership
- Build teamwork and confidence
- Prepare for a final community praise and worship concert

Volunteer Opportunity Overview
CCRA is seeking a Volunteer Praise & Worship Teacher who can lead weekly sessions and help participants develop both their musical skills and their understanding of praise and worship.
The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging, encouraging, and age-appropriate sessions that allow participants to learn through instruction, practice, group singing, and participation.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching Praise & Worship
The volunteer will introduce participants to the fundamentals of praise and worship, including:
- What praise and worship means
- Different ways people can participate in worship
- How to lead and participate in a worship song
- Understanding worship as a group experience
- Building confidence while singing
- Developing respectful and supportive worship environments
- Teach Common Praise & Worship Songs
- The teacher will introduce participants to a selection of common and appropriate praise and worship songs.
Sessions may include:
- Learning melodies
- Learning lyrics
- Understanding song structure
- Singing together
- Learning harmonies
- Practicing transitions
- Developing confidence in leading songs
- Songs should be appropriate for the age groups participating and aligned with the faith-based mission of CCRA.
- Music Theory & Musical Skills
Participants will be introduced to age-appropriate musical concepts such as:
- Pitch
- Rhythm
- Tempo
- Melody
- Harmony
- Chords
- Song structure
- Musical notation
- Key signatures
- Basic ear training
- The focus should be practical and accessible, helping participants understand how these concepts apply to praise and worship.
Vocal & Performance Development
The teacher may lead participants through:
- Vocal warm-ups
- Pitch exercises
- Breathing techniques
- Rhythm exercises
- Group singing
- Call-and-response activities
- Harmony practice
- Microphone and performance basics
- Confidence-building exercises
The goal is not to require participants to be professional singers, but to help each person develop their abilities and feel comfortable participating.
Inclusive & Accessible Instruction
CCRA is committed to creating a program that welcomes participants of all abilities and experience levels. The volunteer should demonstrate patience, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt activities so that children, teens, and adults can participate meaningfully.
Participants should never feel discouraged because of their current musical ability. The goal is to meet people where they are and help them grow from there.
Weekly Session Leadership
The Praise & Worship Teacher must be able to lead a weekly session during their agreed-upon 1–2 hour time block.
End-of-Program Concert Coordination
- A key part of the program will be preparing participants for a session-end praise and worship concert or community performance.
- The volunteer will help coordinate and prepare participants for the final event, including:
- Selecting songs for the concert
- Preparing participants for their parts
- Organizing group performances
- Preparing individual or small-group opportunities where appropriate
Faith-Based Mentorship & Leadership
The Praise & Worship Teacher will serve as both a musical instructor and a positive role model.
The volunteer should help create an environment based on:
- Faith
- Respect
- Encouragement
- Patience
- Teamwork
- Compassion
- Confidence
- Positive leadership
The teacher should be comfortable participating in brief prayer before and/or after sessions and supporting the Christian faith-based mission of CCRA.
What We're Looking For
Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following:
- Praise and worship leadership
- Worship team participation
- Singing
- Music instruction
- Vocal instruction
- Leading group singing
- Choral or ensemble experience
Candidates should also have:
- Strong musical ability and a good sense of pitch
- Ability to teach basic musical concepts
- Confidence leading a group
- Strong communication skills
- Patience and an encouraging personality
- Ability to work with children, teens, and adults
- A willingness to work with participants of all abilities
- Dependability and professionalism
- A passion for helping others discover their musical and worship abilities
Experienced worship team members, singers, musicians, music students, church volunteers, worship leaders, and individuals with a strong passion for praise and worship are encouraged to apply.
