MacKay’s Truck & Trailer Center is growing, and we are looking for skilled and motivated Truck & Transport Technicians to join our team in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Red Seal Truck & Transport Technicians, Truck & Transport Apprentices, Trailer Technicians, and Red Seal Automotive Technicians are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do
As a Truck & Transport Technician, you will diagnose, maintain and repair commercial trucks while working closely with our Service team to ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and other vehicle system concerns
- Adjusting, repairing and replacing parts and components on small, medium and heavy-duty trucks
- Performing routine and preventative maintenance
- Troubleshooting vehicle systems and identifying appropriate repair solutions
- Inspecting completed work to ensure repairs meet quality and safety standards
- Managing assigned work efficiently and communicating repair progress with team members
- Working collaboratively with Service Advisors, Parts personnel and fellow technicians
- Following manufacturer specifications, service procedures and established repair practices
- Following safe work practices and maintaining a clean, organized work area
- Performing other duties as required
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused and committed to quality workmanship. You should enjoy troubleshooting complex problems, learning new technologies and working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced shop environment.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Canadian Red Seal certification as a Truck & Transport Mechanic/Technician, or
- Current enrollment as a Truck & Transport Apprentice with relevant trade experience
- Trailer Technician experience considered an asset
- Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Automotive Service Technician certification considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures and specifications
- Relevant safety training and a commitment to safe work practices
- Ability and willingness to learn new vehicle systems, technologies and diagnostic equipment
- Welding, cutting and fabrication skills considered an asset
- Cummins engine systems training considered an asset
- Mack/Volvo Master Technician certification considered an asset
- Class 1 driver’s licence considered an asset
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to customer service
