The Director of Customer Retention is responsible for the overarching Customer Retention strategy for the Region and for managing the retention of individual customer relationships. This leadership role sits on the region’s Sales Leadership team and plays an integral role in the overall sales plan for the region.
Deliver the agreed upon new business recovery plan in alignment with the region’s financial goals
Leverage all internal customer data to support the VP of Local Sales with retention strategy for the Region and to the individual customer level
Work with the regional sales leaders on the development of a comprehensive business development & recovery strategy
Handle and manage urgent customer objections and complaints, regarding to service, and where there is a risk of losing a customer or market share
Be responsible to prioritize intel opportunities being recommended by other sales team members such as Red Alerts
Accountable to build creative and effective sales plan with the help of advanced analytics to identify a large prospect list of recovery accounts and categories
Address prospects’ unique concerns, build trust, and remove the risk of loss
Coordinate proposal process for local contracts that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns and objectives
Collaborate with sales team to identify loss of sales within a current customer and loss of market share within territories
Reviews weekly, monthly and quarterly sales objectives and results for target accounts and prepare action plans where improvement is needed
Gathers information on emerging market and foodservice industry trends to understand the competitive landscape and top position Sysco for increased effectiveness in securing new business
Develops strong working relationships with brokers, distributors, and foodservice industry peers. This associate is expected to be an active member of the foodservice community
Ensures that data and activity on accounts is accurately entered and managed within Sysco Salesforce platform
Presents to and consults with senior level management on trends in the foodservice industry
Attends sales meetings, food shows, customer events etc. and provide feedback
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales management
Advanced knowledge of core business processes (Customer planning and management, sales and distribution, financial reporting, training, quality assurance)
Completion of post-secondary education
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Strong financial and business acumen and ability to properly plan and execute business plans
Track record of success in the area of consultative selling, networking and negotiations
Proficient communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with and influence a variety of key stakeholders
Experience building trust with prospective customers and securing new business
Analytical problem-solving skills, including familiarity with analyzing reports and deriving insights from data
Ability to learn the use of proprietary CRM tools for planning and forecasting sales growth
Demonstrated ability to deliver against deadlines and produce high-quality results (accuracy, thoroughness in the deliverables they are producing)
