This posting is for a full-time permanent position, with office hours Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Due to the operational requirements, this position may require work outside of normal work hours.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Utilities Operator in Charge, the meter reader is responsible for ensuring that all work related to meter reading, repairs, water shut off and connections are completed. The meter reader will also assist the utility clerk with billing and computerized metering system.

Responsibilities

Installation of water meters
Service water meter
Digital data entry and work orders
Daily incidentals and meter reads
Self management of reading routes and associated paperwork
Health and Safety is paramount for this position as working alone conditions can occur

Qualifications
Mechanical Aptitude
Strong customer service skills
Ability to troubleshoot
Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook as well as Access and other programs is an asset

Education
Grade 12 or equivalent
Provincial Water and Wastewater designations are considered an asset
A valid Class 5 AB Driver’s License is required but a class 3 or higher is preferred
Considerable knowledge of OH&S regulations and corporate safe work practices
Experience within a municipality is preferred
