Job Title: Team Lead – CNC Operations (Afternoon Shift) 4:00 pm to 12:20 am
Position Summary - Commdoor Aluminum is seeking a hands-on afternoon shift Team Lead to support and coordinate daily CNC machining operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a completely new role. This role combines leadership responsibilities with active machine operation, requiring strong CNC programming knowledge, technical troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to quality, productivity, and workplace safety. The Team Lead serves as a key link between machine operators and management, ensuring efficient workflow and consistent production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and support daily CNC machining operations to meet production schedules and quality requirements, and ability to work 4:00 pm to 12:30 am
· Operate CNC machines and perform CNC programming, setup, and adjustments as required.
· Provide hands-on assistance to operators with machine setup, tooling, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
· Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
· Train, mentor, and support team members on CNC best practices, operating procedures, and safety standards.
· Promote and enforce health and safety policies, ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
· Conduct quality checks and ensure all products meet company and customer specifications.
· Investigate and resolve production issues, equipment concerns, and quality deviations in a timely manner.
· Coordinate workflow and communicate production priorities to operators.
· Act as a liaison between production staff and management, providing updates on operational performance, challenges, and resource needs.
· Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce waste.
· Maintain accurate production records and support reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Post-secondary education in Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, CNC Programming, Tool & Die, or a related technical field is considered an asset.
- CNC machining and programming training through a recognized technical college, trade school, or apprenticeship program.
Preferred:
- Certification as a CNC Machinist, General Machinist, or equivalent skilled trades certification.
- Training in CAD/CAM software and CNC programming.
- Health and Safety training (e.g., WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout, Joint Health & Safety Committee training) is an asset.
- Leadership, supervisory, or manufacturing management training is beneficial.
Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of experience in a Team Lead, Lead Hand, or supervisory role preferred.
- Proven experience with CNC setup, operation, programming, troubleshooting, and quality control.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience operating and programming CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of CNC setup, tooling, machine maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Knowledge of quality control standards and manufacturing best practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently while leading and supporting a team in a hands-on production environment.
Working Conditions
· Afternoon shift manufacturing environment, ability to lift 50 pounds.
· Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and operation of CNC machinery.
· Hands-on participation in production activities is required.
Pay Rate: $28.50 to $30.50
