Role: Animal Welfare Associate (AWA)

Status: 2 Full Time Positions – 40 hours per week
1 Part Time Position – 24 hours per week*
We are currently hiring for Animal Welfare Associate positions who will be responsible for daily animal care, enrichment of animals, infection control, and bio security.
Completing daily husbandry duties for animals housed within the Centre, including but not limited to; cleaning and disinfection of animal areas, animal nutrition and feeding, monitoring individual animal health, and accurate records management including data collection and entry. This position will also assist in the training and orientation of new staff and volunteers, and ensure infection control procedures are followed for the premises, animal housing units and equipment used within the Centre, while working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. In addition, this role will be required as necessary, to complete vet runs and animal transfers using an OSPCA business vehicle. Other duties requiring a valid license will also be assigned as needed.
The ideal candidate must have a good working knowledge of animal welfare practices, excellent customer service skills, be self motivated with a high energy level, and the ability to work as a part of a team. Key strengths must include critical thinking skills, the ability to problem solve, flexibility, and high work standards.
- Experience in Social Media an asset.
- Valid G drivers license and clean drivers abstract is required
· Registered Veterinary Technician or equivalent experience an asset.
· You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
· RVT preferred
